Delivered at the Speed of Business

The Center for Business Intelligence (CBI) offers a smart approach to growth for second-stage companies. CBI converts the power of data, research and technology into decision-making tools that help business owners increase revenue. Specialists focused in such areas as business strategy, market research, digital media and GIS (geographic information system) services work as a team with companies over the course of 4 to 6 weeks to identify and pursue growth opportunities. Business owners prefer this “just in time” custom approach because it fits well into their busy schedules and provides access to new ideas and high-end strategic tools.

CBI, a program unit of the University of Wisconsin System’s Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship, works collaboratively across the state with local businesses, economic development organizations and UW institutions to provide this specialized business owner education.

Local/regional economic development or workforce organization engagement is critical. Businesses must be sponsored (either referred to us by the local organization or, in some cases, we introduce a business back to the organization).

Why do we prefer to work this way?

We believe business performance and company value are best served in combination with organizations that have local connections and relationships. Investing in high-end tools and resources at the state level that are deployed at the local level leverages funding and expertise for Wisconsin businesses.

And what does Business Intelligence mean?

There are all sorts of interpretations out there. Here’s our definition: Business Intelligence is the collection and analysis of strategic business and market information used to help business owners and economic development organizations improve decision-making and detect business opportunities.
